VW unveils new Tiguan that's lighter and more powerful
By CARSIFU | 22 November 2024LOS ANGELES: Volkswagen has introduced the all-new US-specced Tiguan at the 2024 LA Auto Show (Nov 22-Dec 1).
It's the latest iteration of its best-selling SUV in the U.S., showcasing a complete redesign with enhanced styling, upgraded power, and improved fuel efficiency.
Built on the MQB evo platform, the third-generation Tiguan aims to solidify its position as a versatile and affordable option for American buyers.
The redesigned exterior features a shorter rear overhang, slightly longer wheelbase, and a more pronounced front nose.
Slimmer headlights, an optional LED light bar, and illuminated logo create a distinctive light signature. New aerodynamic elements include a rear spoiler and air curtains in the front bumper.
Wheel sizes range from 17 to 20 inches, with new colour options like Avocado Green Pearl and Monterey Blue Pearl adding vibrancy.
Inside, the Tiguan introduces upscale materials such as genuine walnut wood décor and upgraded Savona leather.
The cabin, now offered exclusively in a two-row configuration for North America, features a restructured center console for improved storage, thanks to the repositioning of the gear selector to the steering column.
A next-gen 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro is standard, paired with a new 12.9-inch central infotainment display featuring MIB4 technology. Innovative features like customisable "Atmospheres" blend ambient lighting and audio for a tailored experience.
The Tiguan’s updated 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivers 201hp, a boost from 184, with a 77kg weight reduction contributing to better performance and efficiency.
Safety upgrades include four additional airbags, bringing the total to 10, and VW’s IQ.DRIVE Level 2 driver assistance suite, which includes Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping, and more.
Pricing and availability details will be announced closer to the 2025 Tiguan’s market launch.
