Only 2,000 units of the X70 SE would be produced. Proton is inviting prospective customers to register their interest online following the announcement of the special edition on Monday.
Based on the Premium 2WD X70 variant, the front-wheel drive X70 SE essentially sports only cosmetic changes.
On the outside, expect the special edition to feature black roof, black wing mirrors and a two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels.
The black theme is echoed in the cabin with black trim and black Nappa leather seats.
It would be available in a new Ocean Blue colour first introduced in the X50 or the existing Ruby Red.
The special edition will use the same 1.8 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 181hp/300Nm and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The launch event will take place at 11am, July 22, at Proton's Facebook page.
