Waze made more useful: It now shows EV charging stations across Malaysia
By THE STAR | 02 December 2024PETALING JAYA: Waze has added the option to display electric vehicle (EV) charging stations instead of petrol stations for some of its Malaysian users.
Interestingly, Malaysia is not currently listed as a supported country on Google’s official page for this feature.
However, StarLifestyleTech was able to enable the feature, possibly indicating that it may be rolling out in stages.
The feature, first introduced overseas back in March of last year, can be enabled via the app's settings. Users only need to navigate to the "Driving preferences" section in the settings menu and tap on "Vehicle details".
From there select the "Electric vehicles" option and toggle "Turn on EV features".
Users can also select up to seven different charging connector types used by their vehicle, which will then be used to provide them with the locations of charging stations that are compatible with a specific vehicle.
Do note that those who regularly switch between an EV and an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle will also need to manually change the setting in the app to be shown the appropriate refuelling or charging stations.
