West Coast Expressway (WCE) app enhanced

KLANG: West Coast Expressway (WCE) has introduced an enhanced version of the WCE mobile application.

It features a range of new digital capabilities designed to help motorists access real-time traffic information, and plan their journeys more efficiently.

The upgraded application integrates real-time traffic monitoring, digital assistance and navigation tools into a single, more user-friendly platform.

To date, the WCE App has recorded close to 20,000 downloads.

Among the newly introduced features are live CCTV traffic viewing along the highway, traffic Update feature providing real-time incident alerts and highway notifications, AI-powered “WCE Assistant” to assist with user enquiries, and a “Route Assistant” feature that helps users navigate to their destinations through navigation applications using WCE routes.

There are also a toll rate calculator to check toll charges based on entry and exit plazas as well as vehicle class, navigation for highway facilities including electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, R&R (rest and relaxation) areas, toll plazas and emergency telephones, and enhanced customer feedback and assistance channels.

Through the live CCTV feature, users are able to monitor current traffic conditions along the WCE route.

The newly introduced “Traffic Update” feature enables users to receive real-time alerts and important notifications directly through the application, including information on major accidents, temporary road closures, traffic disruptions and other incident-related updates.

West Coast Expressway managing director Lyndon Alfred Felix said the enhancement of the application forms part of WCE’s continuous efforts to leverage digital technology in improving the highway user experience.

“We want to ensure that WCE users not only enjoy a smoother and safer journey, but also have convenient access to accurate information at all times,” he said.

The enhanced WCE App also helps users discover tourist attractions, historical landmarks, hotels and restaurants along the WCE alignment more conveniently.

With just one click on a selected destination, the application provides route guidance and navigation support to assist with travel planning and stopovers.

Users can also conveniently access information on highway facilities including EV charging stations, R&R areas, toll plazas and emergency telephones, ensuring that assistance and essential amenities are easily accessible whenever needed.

The AI-powered “WCE Assistant” offers instant digital assistance related to travel, highway facilities and other basic information through the application, while the Toll Rate Calculator helps users plan their journeys more efficiently based on current toll rates.
