KUALA LUMPUR: BMW and MINI dealer Wheelcorp Premium has introduced a new MINI-badged charging station in Kota Kemuning, Klang, offering electric vehicle (EV) owners in the area better access to charging infrastructure.

Located in Sanctuary Mall @ Eco Sanctuary – a neighbourhood mall developed by Eco World Development Group Bhd, the new facility was opened by representatives from MINI Malaysia, Wheelcorp Premium, Eco Sanctuary and JomCharge.

The new MINI charging station features two parking bays, a 50kW DC charger with two DC holders, as well as a 22kW AC charger – both powered by JomCharge.

The new facility is now open to the public at Sanctuary Mall @ Eco Sanctuary, Persiaran Eco Sanctuary, 8/3, Eco Santuari in Selangor – with a standard rate of RM1.20 per minute of use.

On Eco World's part, the developer said it aims to ensure that all its projects have at least one EV charging station.

Earlier this month, another dealer Millennium Welt had also introduced a MINI-badged charger in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Seremban. It is an 11kW AC charger.

The chargers from Wheelcorp Premium are part of BMW Group Malaysia’s strategy to develop the infrastructure needed for the charging of electric vehicles, together with local partners, dealers and key charging providers.

Over 670 charging facilities have been made Malaysia available by BMW Group Malaysia for EV owners thus far, with access to over 360 of these facilities provided through partnerships with ChargEV and Yinson Greentech.

The partnership with JomCharge also enables access to over 70 charging facilities, and Gentari with 150 facilities.

Over 100 BMW i and MINI charging facilities are also available at most authorised dealerships, as well as partnering venues across the country, with more to come as part of the expansion plan set for the year ahead.
