BRUSSELS: The BMW iX3 is the car with the best-performing assisted driving system on the European market this year, according to Euro NCAP.

Its driving aids in semi-autonomous mode were rated as "very good."

Since 2020, the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) has published a series of tests specifically dedicated to assisted driving, in addition to its classic crash test results.

The German SUV has a powerful set of sensors as standard, which makes its entire driver assistance system particularly safe when drivers are not able to react to a dangerous situation by themselves.

Two other cars, the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Cupra Formentor, received a "good" rating, while the Polestar 2 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 were rated as "moderate."

The Toyota Yaris and the Opel Mokka-e, on the other hand, offer "Entry" level assisted driving systems.

Last year, Euro NCAP rated the Audi Q8, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes GLE as "very good," with the latter getting the highest scores.

Most of the other cars tested, including the Tesla Model 3, offered only "moderate" quality.

Still, software updates can correct and improve such systems.

Driver assistance systems help the driver maintain a constant speed, keep the vehicle in the center of the lane and keep a safe distance from the car in front on certain roads, such as highways, with tools like adaptive cruise control (ACC) and a lane centering system (LC).
