ISKANDAR PUTERI: A workshop worker has been arrested for allegedly stealing vehicle spare parts worth RM6,000 from his workplace in Skudai.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said police received a report from a 31-year-old woman, who manages the workshop located in Taman Harmoni 2, on 8 May at around 5.19pm.
“She reported that several vehicle components were missing from the workshop.
“Acting on the information, a police team from the Iskandar Puteri Criminal Investigation Department detained a 23-year-old male worker at about 11.25pm in Taman Universiti,” he said in a statement today.
Following the arrest, police seized six sets of car rims in various colours and designs, along with 14 boxes of shock absorbers of different brands and types. The total value of the items recovered is estimated to be RM6,000.
Checks revealed the suspect has five prior criminal records. However, he tested negative for drugs during an initial urine screening.
He is currently under a seven-day remand until 15 May to assist investigations under Section 381 of the Penal Code for theft by a servant. The offence carries a maximum jail sentence of seven years and may also include a fine upon conviction.
ACP Kumarasan said police remain committed to combating all forms of criminal activity and urged the public to share any information on suspicious behaviour or illegal activities.
“Information can be channelled to the nearest police station or the Iskandar Puteri District Control Centre at 07-5113622 or the hotline at 07-5114486,” he added.
