Xiaomi SU7 Ultra joins Gran Turismo 7, first Chinese debut

LONDON: Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital have entered a strategic alliance at Round One of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025, under which the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra — Xiaomi EV’s flagship high-performance luxury electric saloon — will be featured in Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

This marks the first inclusion of a Xiaomi model and also the first Chinese car in the renowned racing simulator.

Gran Turismo is lauded for its fidelity to real-world vehicle dynamics, with engineering parameters tuned to actual performance.

Its influence now extends beyond gaming, shaping innovations in vehicle dynamics and safety while cultivating a global community of motoring enthusiasts. The introduction of the SU7 Ultra in the virtual arena reflects the growing prominence of premium smart electric vehicles.

In May 2025, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi visited Beijing to meet Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun, undertaking a test drive of the SU7 Ultra and inspecting Xiaomi’s EV manufacturing facility in Yizhuang.

Yamauchi praised Xiaomi’s rapid progress in the automotive sector, noting that the SU7 Ultra prototype has eclipsed established performance benchmarks at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and commended the company’s “courage, curiosity, passion and relentless dedication” to reaching such milestones.

Xiaomi EV completed its “Human × Car × Home” ecosystem in 2024 with the launch of the SU7.

The SU7 Ultra builds on this foundation with a self-developed tri-motor configuration — HyperEngine V8s spinning at 27,200 rpm to deliver 578 PS and 635Nm per motor — for a combined output of 1,548 PS.

It achieves 0–100kph in 1.98 seconds and exceeds 350kph, holding multiple lap records for four-door vehicles.

The body has 21 carbon-fibre elements covering 5.5 m², optimising weight distribution and blending dynamic performance with craftsmanship.

Xiaomi’s R&D team has conducted extensive track testing — including torque-vectoring and adaptive-damping trials — at venues such as the Nürburgring, iteratively refining vehicle dynamics to ensure production models translate professional-grade handling and safety to everyday driving.

Gran Turismo 7 will integrate the SU7 Ultra via a joint development process, faithfully recreating its aesthetics and driving behaviour for a global audience of players.

Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital intend to extend their cooperation beyond this debut, with plans to co-create a Vision Gran Turismo concept car for future inclusion in the simulator.
