LONDON: Xpeng is now in the UK market as part of its global expansion.
The brand signalled its UK entry here by launching pre-sales for its first right-hand-drive model — the Xpeng G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV.
The G6, priced from £39,990 (RM223,000), features 800-volt supercharging, extended range, and advanced technology. Xpeng said deliveries will begin in March.
The UK is Europe’s largest EV market and is pivotal to Xpeng's growth.
The brand set foot in Europe in 2021 through Norway. It now operates across 14 countries, with plans to expand to 60 countries and regions by the end of 2025.
For its UK debut, Xpeng also brought along other products that included the P7+ AI-defined sedan, G9 flagship SUV, X9 seven-seater MPV, and the eVTOL X2 flying car by its subsidiary Xpeng AEROHT.
Xpeng's UK partner is distributor IML, which will open 20 dealerships across the country this year. IML managing director William Brown said securing the Xpeng franchise would enable it to shape "the future of electric mobility by providing market-leading vehicles and services."
Xpeng has recently struck deals with Volkswagen and BP Pulse to build ultra-fast charging networks and EV solutions.
Since its formation in 2014, the Chinese automaker has delivered over 620,000 smart EVs worldwide.
