GUANGZHOU: Chinese automaker Xpeng has taken a major step in its international expansion by shipping 300 right-hand drive X9 MPVs to Thailand.
The delivery marks Xpeng’s entry into new Southeast Asian markets.
At the same time, Xpeng would also be using Southeast Asia in 2025 as the launchpad to deploy an ultra-fast charging network globally.
The X9, an all-electric large seven-seater MPV, was introduced to the Thai market earlier this year to a highly positive reception for its futuristic design, versatile cabin space, and advanced safety features.
It would also be sold in Malaysia soon.

This model, built for both left- and right-hand drive markets, aims to offer a premium blend of luxury and innovation tailored for family and commercial use.
In the coming months, the company will install charging stations in key markets including Hong Kong SAR and Thailand, setting the stage for broader expansion across Asia, Europe and Australia.
Xpeng plans to work with established local charging operators to achieve that.

The company has also been busy enhancing the smart driving capabilities of its cars.
Xpeng has already started multiple over-the-air (OTA) updates, with significant upgrades rolled out in late 2024 and early 2025.
These software advancements are paving the way for the introduction of its Turing AI Intelligent Driving System to international markets by 2026, a move that promises to elevate safety and efficiency in autonomous driving.
Since its global debut in Norway in 2021, Xpeng has been exporting its cars to over 30 markets.
