Yamaha Tenere 700 launched from RM59,000

SUNGAI BULOH: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has expanded its 2026 lineup with the Yamaha Tenere 700, priced at RM58,998 that promises fans an easy entry into the world of adventure touring.

The motorcycle launched in Adventure Blue is inspired by Yamaha's rally heritage featuring a tall stance and an aggressive design with quad LED headlamps.

Powering the Tenere 700 is a 689cc liquid-cooled DOHC fuel injected engine that delivers 54kW and 68Nm of torque while the transmission is a six-speed constant mesh type.

The all-new Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle, introduced for the first time on the CP2 engine, enables smoother and more precise throttle response.

Riders have two riding modes – Sport for more aggressive performance and Explorer which offers smoother power delivery for long-distance touring.

Meanwhile, the suspension system is a front upside-down telescopic fork and rear link-type swing arm.

The front and rear suspension have a travel of 210mm and 200mm respectively, allowing confident rides over rough terrain.

Also included is a three-mode switchable ABS system and a switchable Traction Control System that allow riders to adapt to different conditions, including off-road riding.

The Tenere 700 also gets a new intuitive switchgear for improved usability with conveniences such as three-flash signaling and auto-canceling indicators.

Other features include a 6.3-inch TFT display with connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, two selectable display themes and a USB Type-C port.

Newly-appointed HLYM managing director Loh Heng Choy said the local big bike segment has been experiencing strong growth with total industry volume increasing significantly from 2024 to last year.

"More importantly, the above 500cc segment is expanding rapidly, with the adventure category particularly in the mid-weight range gaining strong momentum.

"This trend reflects a growing desire among riders to travel further and explore more interesting places," he said.
