SUNGAI BULOH: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) marked the start of its year with the official launch of the Tracer 9 GT.
Available at all authorised Yamaha dealerships nationwide, the Tracer 9 GT has been priced on-the-road without insurance at RM71,888 - while being backed by a two-year or 20,000km warranty.
Two colour choices of Tech Black and Ceramic Ice are available for this 227kg (wet) premium sport-touring motorcycle.
With a 1,500mm wheelbase, this bike measures 2,157mm in length, 900mm in width and stands 1,440mm to 1,530mm in height.
Within its diamond frame chassis is a four-stroke 890cc fuel-injected three-cylinder engine, with an electric starter producing 119PS at 10,000rpm and 93Nm at 7,000rpm.

Managing this is a six-speed constant mesh transmission that's chained to the rear wheel.
The engine is said to provide five litres per 100km at best and produces 116g of carbon dioxide per km, while sipping from a 19-litre fuel tank.
Suspending the frame is a front upside-down telescopic fork with a 24.25-degree caster angle and 130mm of travel.
The rear uses a rear link-type 106mm swingarm with a mono-tube gas absorber and integrated spring to provide 131mm of travel.
For grip, it uses front 120/70 and rear 180/55 tyres for its 17-inch wheels - giving it a minimum ground clearance of 135mm.

To help keep this bike in check are dual 298mm discs for the front and a single rear 267mm disc.
Standard features include a Matrix Headlight system that automatically adjusts individual LEDs to optimise illumination based on surrounding traffic conditions.
For enhanced rider comfort, the 9 GT includes an electronically adjustable windscreen and a redesigned fairing that's said to have been optimised in the wind tunnel.
Riders can also utilise the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) system via a new 7.0-inch full-colour TFT display - allowing for the customisation of engine characteristics and electronic intervention to suit personal preferences or varying road conditions.
Adding further value is the inclusion of the brand's Y-Connect system with integrated navigation, electronically controlled suspension, and a third-generation quick shifter.

The motorcycle also features a new seat design for easier foot reach, a Smart Key System, and an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) for improved safety.
“The Malaysian big bike market presents a significant growth opportunity for Yamaha, and our aim is to introduce products that are relevant, premium, and aligned with how riders live, ride, and explore,” said HLYM general manager of branding and marketing Hoo Wan Tim.
