SEPANG: Invited guests, comprising Zeekr owners and members of the media, recently experienced the Zeekr 7X premium electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) like never before across a variety of driving conditions at Sepang Bay 13 Off-Road Ranch.
The Zeekr 7X Beyond Drive Experience was held on Jan 23 and 24th, and organised by Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia (Zeekr Malaysia).
The programme was designed to showcase the 7X’s performance, control, comfort, and versatility.
All driving activities were conducted under the supervision of professional driving instructors.
This ensured participants could safely explore the Zeekr 7X’s capabilities while building confidence in the vehicle’s behaviour and control systems.
“From the defensive on-road driving and off-road obstacle courses to the steep hill climb and descent and off-road terrain, the 7X was truly pushed beyond its limits of everyday driving experiences,” said Zeekr Malaysia general manager Eddy Lu.
The 7X AWD Performance model is powered by a dual-motor system producing 646hp and 710Nm of torque, supported by an 800V electrical architecture and an intelligent torque vectoring system.
The programme highlighted features such as the Zeekr Magic Carpet Suspension, Distributed Traction Control System, and Hill Descent Control.
These features were tested during the off-road courses that replicated real-world rough terrains, demonstrating the 7X’s handling, stability, and performance.
Among the different activities that attendees experienced included defensive and dynamic on-road driving which saw them navigate a slalom course, which showcased the 7X’s steering precision, agility, and chassis balance.
The straight-line acceleration and braking zones meanwhile demonstrated its smooth power delivery and efficient braking systems.
During the rally experience taxi ride, participants rode along with a rally driver on a 1.5km high-speed off-road route with speeds of up to 120kph, for an adrenaline-filled experience on a simulated rally stage.
This showcased the 7X’s traction and vehicle stability on loose surfaces.
On the obstacle course, guided by an instructor, participants attempted multiple driving obstacles including the side slope, steep hill climb and descent, elephant steps, and water wading.
Each terrain element was designed to demonstrate the 7X’s off-road capability, composure and system responsiveness across steep inclines, loose surfaces, and uneven grounds.
On the adventure trail, participants got behind the wheel on a 1.6km off-road route, which focused on ride comfort and composure across uneven terrains.
“We were genuinely surprised by how the Zeekr 7X performed when driven off-road. None of us expected an electric SUV to be able to handle water-wading, steep jungle-like terrains, and rugged obstacles so confidently. The best part is the car still drove as smoothly as ever afterwards,” said a 7X owner Rukmanikanthan Shanmugam.
