The range topping 3.0-litre V6 will be made available soon at an estimated price of under RM500,000, while the A6 1.8 TFSI is currently priced at RM324,900 (on-the-road with GST without insurance).
“The A6 range is currently the best-selling business class model in not just the world’s largest automotive market, China, but what I believe to be the most competitive market, none other than Audi’s home market of Germany,” said Audi Malaysia managing director Immo Buschmann.
A few general exterior updates have been employed which includes the single frame grille, a new design for the front and rear bumper, headlights, rear light clusters, side sills, exhaust, and a diffuser has been added.
The front-wheel driven 1.8 TFSI gets 10bhp-more at 185bhp that’s available from 4,200 to 6,200rpm, while maximum torque remains unchanged at 320Nm and is found from 1,400 to 4,100rpm.
While the engine is mated to a seven-speed S-tronic gearbox, it helps the A6 reach 100kph in 7.9 seconds (0.4 seconds quicker) before reaching a top speed of 233kph (7kph more than before).
The combined fuel consumption has dropped from 6.4 litres to 5.7 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions have been reduced from 149 to 133g/km (11% better).
In terms of equipment, the 1.8 TFSI rolls on set of 17-inch wheels with 225/55 series tyres, Xenon lights with high-beam assistant and automatic headlight-range adjustment, LED rear lights as well as electrically folding and dimming side-view mirrors with memory function.
Inside, the cabin gets aluminium accents, Milano leather upholstered seats, electrically adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar support and memory function for the driver, as well as a four-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel and quad-zone automatic climate controls.
Furthermore, it comes equipped with an electromechanical power steering and parking brake, as well as five driving modes from the Audi Drive Select - Auto, comfort, dynamic, efficiency and individual.
It also features keyless-entry with start stop function and energy recovery, along with automatic headlights and wipers and a 6.5-inch colour display linked to a 10-speaker 180W six-channel amplifier sound system with Bluetooth connectivity.
In terms of safety, there are six airbags, Isofix mounts and a slew of electronic safety programmes that include anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, traction control, hold assist and an electronic differential lock.
As for the 3.0 V6 TFSI quattro, the permanent all-wheel drive A6 with the same seven-speed S-tronic gearbox gets an output of 328bhp from 5,300 to 6,500rpm and 440Nm of torque from 2,900 to 5,300rpm.
Acceleration from 0-100kph is dispatched in 5.1 seconds and top speed has been electronically limited to 250kph with combined fuel consumption rated at 7.4 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions at 172g/km.
The 3.0-litre variant adds a few more equipments to the list, such as LED headlights, dynamic indicators for the rear LED lights, rear view camera, powered boot lid and electrically adjustable steering wheel.
The list of upgrades include a set of 19-inch 15-spoke design wheels with 255/40 series tyres, eight airbags, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, voice recognition, as well as an eight-inch colour display with DVD play-back, 10GB flash memory and Google Earth navigation via the car’s Wi-Fi hotspot.
Lastly, it tops it all off with a Bose surround sound system that includes 14-speakers and a 600W 12-channel amplifier for entertainment.
The Audi A6 is currently available in thirteen colours of Ibis White, Brilliant Black, Glacier White, Oolong Grey, Mythos Black, Dakota Grey, Florent Silver, Diamond Beige, Aviator Blue, Tornado Grey, Havana Black, Moonlight Blue and Garnet Grey.
“With a newer lightweight aluminium composite construction, a sporty and dynamic chassis, powerful yet even more efficient engines and the latest multimedia systems, the new A6 rewrites the business class standards,” said Buschmann.
