The new design package costs USD$3,550 (RM14,800) and adds on the M Sport X exterior package, high-gloss black M Mesh kidney grille with three-dimensional mesh-inserts, new 19-inch M Aerodynamic Style 919M wheels with orange or black highlights.
There's also an eight-speed sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters and M Sport Seats with leather upholstery.
Lastly, it'll come slapped with specially selected interior appointments including Edition badging and a newly included Brooklyn Grey Metallic paint for the first time to join the rest of the options such as Alpine White, Phytonic Blue Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic and Sunset Orange Metallic.
The Edition M Mesh includes exterior features from the optional M Sport X package such as the M Sport Exterior package, Shadowline Trim and Extended Shadowline Trim.
The Shadowline exterior trim includes high-gloss black window and exterior mirror surrounds as well as B-pillar and C-pillar trims, black chrome rear trunk lid badge surround and exhaust tips,
The 19-inch wheels are fitted with 225/45 run-flat tyres while the optional 20-inch M Aerodynamic wheels with either black or orange high-lights use 225/40 run-flats.
Inside, the cabin's seats are wrapped in Black Perforated Dakota Leather with the door sills bearing the “Edition” lettering, Aluminum Hexagon trim with Pearl Grey Chrome accents and an M Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters are included.
Both the front-wheel and all-wheel-drive X2 28i models are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 228hp from 5,000 to 6,000rpm and 350Nm of torque from 1,450 to 4,500rpm.
With an eight-speed transmission, the sDrive28i to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 6.8 seconds while the xDrive28i gets the deed done in 6.5 seconds.
As standard, the BMW X2 28i models come equipped with an 8.8-inch high-resolution centre touchscreen display with navigation, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM and Bluetooth connectivity. A wireless charger is an optional extra.
Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes frontal collision warning with city collision mitigation, lane departure warning, speed limit information and automatic high beams.
Active cruise control with stop & go is available as an option.
