SAN FRANCISCO: Tesla has announced that it will offer its Ludicrous Mode upgrade to P90D buyers, even if they passed over the feature at the time of purchase, reports Tech Crunch.
Until now, buyers of P90Ds were asked to buy the Ludicrous Mode updates at the time of purchase and if they opted out, they were not offered it again.
For US$10,000, P90D owners can now add the upgrades, which promise to make the car 20 percent faster - reducing its quarter mile time to 10.9 seconds and its 0-100 time to 2.8 seconds. The upgrade functions by switching out a fuse and a battery back, increasing the maximum output from 1,300 amps to 1,500 amps.
Without the upgrade, the P90D promises 0-60 in 3.2 seconds.
