2018 Bangkok Motor Show: 42,499 vehicles booked

BANGKOK: The 39th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) was another exceptionally successful edition, as it closed after 12 days with 1.62 million visitors and 42,499 vehicles booked.

For the motor show's organiser Grand Prix International PLC, the 2018 edition was a triumphant accomplishment (the 2017 edition saw 1.6 million visitors and 36,093 vehicles booked).

"This affirms that the Bangkok International Motor Show is Thailand's number one car show as well as Asian. This is the world's largest exhibition. We are grateful for the trust from car, motorcycle, and automotive entrepreneurs, who are willing to spend huge investments for booth design and showcases,” said Jaturont Komolmis, vice chairman of BIMS and chief operating officer of Grand Prix PLC.

The motor show was held at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Muang Thong Thani, from March 28 to April 8.

Vehicle bookings at the 2018 edition consisted of 36,587 cars and 5,912 motorcycles.

Toyota has the highest bookings with 5,689 units; followed by Honda with 5,133 units; and Mazda with 5,021 units.

As for motorcycles, Honda Motor Co had the highest bookings with 2,628 units; followed by Yamaha with 737 units; and Kawasaki with 554 units.

"Based on our data, small and medium cars, and commercial vehicles remain popular while SUVs (sport utility vehicles) continue to see growing market demand. The electric cars at the motor show also received a lot of attention from visitors," said Komolmis.
