BMW 320i Sport upgraded, price up as well at RM244K

PETALING JAYA: The BMW 320i Sport has received some technical updates to make it more appealing to potential customers and aims to swing them away from spending on the Mercedes C-Class and other rivals in the segment.

The locally assembled entry-level 3 Series now comes with a fully digital instrumentation cluster aka BMW Live Cockpit Professional and a bigger infotainment screen.

It is priced RM4,000 more at RM243,883.65. The price is on-the-road, without insurance and without SST; it's inclusive of extended warranty and service package.

Like before, the front LED fog lights and the air curtains integrated into the outer air intakes are inserted into the front apron in a horizontal T. The variant is also equipped with sporty 18-inch light alloy wheels in V-Spoke Style 780 Bicolour.

With a digital cluster, the selling point is that information can now be configured more individually than ever before, offering owners the luxury of personalisation.

It's now 10.25-inch display with a resolution of 1920x720 – a step up from the previous 1280x480 on an 8.8-inch display. The instrument cluster features a new large 12.3-inch display, a significant increase from the previous 5.1-inch.

The focused and fully-configurable display also features a minimalistic, uniform appearance that offers more space in the centre for navigation and other important information prioritised by the driver. The selected Driver Experience modes in Sport, Comfort and Eco Pro are also displayed with a consistent colour and visual treatment across the instrument cluster and centre display.

A new rev counter with counter-clockwise rpm movement is now present, along with the fuel level, speed and engine temperature presented in tube rings. Configurable functions and widgets include the sports scoreboards, driving data, fuel consumption and efficiency, as well as the G-Force meter and radio or media playback.

No change to the engine. The latest 320i Sport uses a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. It has a top speed of 235kph, with a maximum output of 184hp at 5,000 – 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 300Nm at 1,350 – 4,000 rpm. It goes from 0 to 100kph in 7.1 seconds, consumes 6.3 litres of fuel per 100km and emits 144 g/km of CO2.

BMW says the 320i Sport continues to offer segment-leading innovation such as Reversing Assistant for hands-free, semi-autonomous convenience when reversing in narrow streets, along with Rear View Camera that is fitted as standard – powered by the latest BMW Operating System 7.0.
