KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Motorrad Malaysia today introduced the C 400 X and BMW C 400 GT urban scooters as well as the new F 750 GS and R 1250 RT.

In terms of pricing, the C 400 X comes in at RM44,500 (on-the-road without insurance) with three colour options of Alpine White (non-metallic), Moonwalk Grey (metallic) and Black Storm (metallic)

The C 400 GT, on the other hand, costs RM48,500 and is available in Alpine White (non-metallic), Zenith Blue (metallic) and Black Storm (metallic).

Both scooters are powered by a 350cc single-piston motor producing 34hp at 7,500rpm and 35Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.

A continuously variable transmission with vibration decoupling and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) as standard manages power delivery to the rear wheel via a torsional drivetrain swing arm.

These scooters ride on a telescopic front fork and two spring struts at the rear, while braking performance comes from the twin front disc brakes and single rear disc brake which have an anti-lock braking system included as standard.

For connectivity, riders have the option of including Connectivity into the features list that will provide a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen for an instrument cluster.

Together with the BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller offering integrated operation, it allows the rider to access vehicle and connectivity functions on the go.

In addition to the convenience of being able to use the phone and listen to music during travel, there is also the benefit of effortless
navigation by means of arrow-based navigation available through the BMW Motorrad Connected App.

The new Urban Mobility scooters also feature the advanced Keyless Ride where the steering lock, ignition, fuel filler flap and anti-theft device are all activated by a transponder integrated into the key.

But what really differentiates these two mid-sized scooters is that the C 400 X caters to a predominantly urban rider whereas the GT variant allows its rider to go extra-urban and take on a passenger and still remain in relative comfort.

The C 400 X, with its twin-LED headlight, has the option of including daytime running lights as well.

For storage, this scooter has two integrated storage compartments as well as a Flexcase under the seat.

As for the new C 400 GT, this maxi-scooter not only has a taller windshield but also sports a mini backrest for the rider and enough space on the footboard to accommodate the pillion rider's feet.

The travel enduro F 750 GS, known to have been designed for all riders with a low saddle height and powerful all-round qualities comes tagged at RM71,500 and comes in three colour options of Austin Yellow Metallic, Style Exclusive Stereo Metallic Matt, or Light White.

BMW F 750 GS - 04
The 853cc two-cylinder inline engine producing 77hp at 7,500rpm has been re-engineered with two counterbalance shafts that absorb unwanted vibrations compared to its predecessor and now has a firing interval of 270/450 degrees for a unique exhaust note.

A self-amplifying, anti-hopping clutch has been affixed to the new F 750 GS that provides a discernible force reduction when operating the hand clutch while the drop-in drag torque enhances road safety.

Power transmission to the rear wheel is generated by the six-speed gearbox with secondary drive that is now positioned on the left-hand side.

Riding modes available for the new BMW F 750 GS include ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’ modes that address individual rider requirements.

In ‘Rain’ mode, the throttle response is configured to be softer while the control characteristics of the Automatic Stability Control
(ASC) or Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Automatic Braking System (ABS) are based on slippery road surfaces.

The new BMW F 750 GS is equipped with a completely new instrument cluster with Connectivity capabilities and features a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen instrument cluster.

In the touring segment, the R 1250 RT has been priced at RM139,500 and comes in three colour options of Sport Style in dynamic Mars Red, Elegance Style in sleek Carbon Black and Classic Style in Alpine White for a timeless look.

BMW R 1250 RT
The 1,254cc (+84cc) boxer-twin engine producing 136hp and 143Nm of torque, is touted to be smoother, cleaner, more fuel-efficient and better sounding with power coming in earlier at lower rpms.

This is thanks to the BMW ShiftCam Technology (a first for BMW Motorrad engines), which allows for variations of the valve timings
and valve stroke on the intake side.

Additionally, the intake camshafts are designed for asynchronous opening of the two intake valves, resulting in an improved combustion cycle.

Other technical changes to the engine include the camshaft drive – now taken care of by a toothed chain (previously a roller chain), an optimised oil supply, twin-jet injection valves and a new exhaust system.

For riding safety, it is accompanied by Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Antilock Braking System (ABS) Pro and Hill Start Control as standard.

Meanwhile, Riding Modes Pro where additional riding modes of Dynamic, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Hill Start Control Pro and Dynamic Brake Assistant (DBC) are new offerings for the premium tourer.

The Hill Start Control Pro can be individualised in a way that the parking brake is automatically activated on an incline when the hand or foot brake lever has been activated, shortly after the motorcycle comes to a standstill.

This tourer also comes with Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) “Next Generation”, an electronic suspension which allows finely tuned adaptation of the motorcycle to riding states, achieving optimum damping comfort and a very stable ride response.

Different individualisation packages are also available for the R 1250 RT such as the Comfort package, Touring package, Dynamic package, and Lights package - each suited for the long journey, added riding pleasure, sporty adventures, or improved illumination.

BMW R 1250 RT
Like all products within the BMW Motorrad range, the newly launched bikes are covered by a three-year warranty that's accompanied by a three-year Roadside Assistance Programme.

With the Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, based on estimates of 80% loan on a four-year tenure, ownership of the new C 400 X starts from RM550 per month, while the new C 400 GT starts from RM600 per month, the new F 750 GS starts from RM870 per month and the new R 1250 RT starts from RM1,700.00 per month.

According to BMW Group Malaysia managing director Harald Hoelzl, BMW Motorrad Malaysia managed to deliver more than a thousand motorcycles to new owners in 2018 to mark a 7% growth over the previous year.
