The gala dinner and awards extravaganza will be held here on Oct 30.
A total of 54 cars across 25 brands are vying for awards in 30 categories.
Shortlisted cars are Aston Martin, BMW, BYD, Chery, Ford, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar, Kia, Range Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Porsche, Proton, Subaru, Toyota and Volvo.
Three cars out of the 54 will ultimately be declared the winners in the top three categories namely Local Car of the Year, Asian Car of the Year and Continental Car of the Year.
Nominees and winners of these categories will be announced at the gala dinner.
With more battery electric vehicles making inroads into Malaysia, the awards also recognise and honour the top models in this segment as well as those powered by internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains.
The awards were opened to cars launched locally from Oct 1, 2022, to Sept 30, 2023.
Cars nominated are sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, MPVs and pick-up trucks, among others.
They are judged in areas such as safety, performance, comfort, handling, styling, value-for-money proposition as well as their individual “wow” factor
Judging was done by StarCarSifu's editorial team.
The awards were first held in 2016 and became an annual event in 2017, 2018 and 2019. It took a break in 2020 and 2021 because of Covid-19 pandemic, and resumed in 2022.
