Honda Civic sets the benchmark as segment leader

PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia announced that its recently launched Civic (February) with added advanced technology has managed to remain the top preferred C-segment sedan.

The Japanese carmaker said that its Civic has managed to capture a market share of 70%* and to-date it has managed to garner more than 2,900 units in sales nationwide - placing the Civic as the third best-selling model in the company's overall sales.

Within the central region, the Civic contributed 44% to the company's total sales followed by 17% from the Southern region and 15% from the Northern region.

Not to mention, the colour of choice for the C-segmenter is Orchid Pearl among customers - representing 42% of its overall sales.

At present, the latest Civic has received more than 6,500 bookings as of June 2020 with deliveries requiring a one-month waiting period.

The Civic is powered by a 1.5-litre VTEC turbocharged engine with 173PS and 220Nm of torque.

In terms of goodies, the Civic comes with LEDs for the headlights, daytime running lights and front fog lights as well as a newly styled front and rear bumper to complement.

For safety, as standard, all variants of the Civic are equipped with six airbags, vehicle stability assist, agile handle assist, hill start assist, emergency stop signal, anti-lock braking system, brake assist, auto brake hold, front parking sensors and Isofix anchor points.

The Civic currently comes in three variants starting with the entry-level 1.8S and is followed by the 1.5 TC and the range-topping 1.5 TC-P while priced on-the-road without insurance (after sales tax exemption) at RM109,326.51, RM125,081.09 and RM134,934 respectively.

To have the Civic draped in Orchid Pearl will add on a RM272.72 premium to the asking price regardless of the buyers choice of variant.

Ishiyama added that thanks to the Penjana initiative, the Civic has received a substantial reduction the give customers even more reason to own it.
