PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia announced that it recorded a total of 109,511 units sold last year - the highest ever in the company's history.

“At the beginning of 2017, we challenged ourselves with a sales target of 100,000 units and in March 2017, we achieved a historical milestone with the 600,000th unit (CKD) production within a span of 14 years since Honda Malaysia started in 2003," said Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama.

Since 2003, this is the company's highest recorded sales.

It is also the first time it has ever surpassed the 100,000 units mark with 47% of it coming from the central region, followed by the Southern region.

According to Toichi, the company's internal data indicated that their 2017 market share had risen by 3.2 points to 19%.

The total number of units sold in 2016 was recorded at 91,830 units.

This means that the company continues to maintain their number one position in the Non-National segment.

In terms of the automotive industry's Total Industry Volume, the company also maintains its overall number two position.

“On behalf of Honda Malaysia, I would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and thankfulness to all Honda Malaysia customers for their faith and belief in our brand and for making Honda their vehicle of choice," added Toichi.

The company feels bullish about making 2018 another successful year while promising more exciting products and services to come.
