KUALA LUMPUR: Former Proton deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah is now GWM Malaysia's new chief operating officer.

The Chinese company made the announcement in a press statement today.

Roslan's appointment comes at a pivotal time as GWM Malaysia accelerates its efforts to build a future-ready mobility ecosystem that supports the nation’s transition toward smarter, greener and more inclusive transportation.

Roslan has over 30 years of leadership experience in the local automotive industry. Prior to Proton, he had worked for Honda, Isuzu Hicom Malaysia and Modenas.

“My vision is to position GWM as a trusted long-term mobility partner through a strong and reliable dealer and service network, a product portfolio that meets the needs of all Malaysians and a firm commitment to delivering seamless ownership experiences," said Roslan.

In welcoming Roslan, GWM Malaysia managing director Cui Anqi said: “His leadership experience and strategic insight will be instrumental in strengthening our operations, reinforcing customer confidence and establishing GWM as a long-term player in Malaysia's automotive landscape.”

Proton had on May 30 announced Roslan's departure from the company.
