Application for 2016 Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup opens

KUALA LUMPUR: Dorna Sports SL, the commercial rights holder for the motorcycling sport of MotoGP, has announced that application for its 2016 Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup (SAATC) has opened.

The application period is open till Aug 15 and invites those from Asia, Australia and New Zealand to apply for selection, aged between 12 and 20 (specifically born between Jan 1, 1995 and Feb 1, 2003).

The 2016 pre-selection event will be held at the Sepang International Circuit from Oct 20 to 21, before this year’s Shell Malaysia Malaysian MotoGP, and successful applicants will have the opportunity to get involved in one of the most exciting motorcycle race series in the world.

Currently, five Malaysians are competing in this year’s SAATC, who are 17-year old Adam Norrodin, 16-year old Azroy Anuar, 19-year old Fakhrusy Syakirin Rostam, 16-year old Helmi Azman and 19-year old Shafiq Rasol.

The SAATC was launched in 2014 and is designed to help bring through and develop the best young riding talents in the region by acting as a feeder series to the world of motorcycle racing.

It aims to give riders from Asia, Australia and New Zealand a formal path into the world of competitive road racing by helping to further their careers and skills.
