Perodua targets sales of 216,000 cars, Bezza and Axia to lead

By CARSIFU | 26 July 2016

KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua is maintaining its sales target of 216,000 for 2016 by more than doubling its sales to 118,600 in the second half of the year from 97,400 units achieved in the first six months.

This increase comes despite the reduced total industry volume (TIV) projected by the Malaysia Automotive Association to 580,000 vehicles from 650,000 vehicles earlier in the year due to volatility of global economy and the soft consumer sentiment in the first six months of the year.

The recently launched Bezza has seen bookings averaged 1,000 cars per day since it was opened for booking on July 16 and the national compact car company aims to meet the demand with its existing vehicle stock.

“We began mass production of the Bezza since June and have a ready stock of 7,000 as of July 21. By July 31, we expect to have 9,000 units ready for delivery nationwide,” said Perodua president and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

So far, the Bezza’s booking has reached 10,115 units as of July 26 and 500 units have been delivered since it was launched on July 21. “We will do our best to ensure that delivery is made in a timely manner as to ensure our customers’ satisfaction. This is also in-line with our goal to further improve both our Sales Satisfaction Index and Customer Satisfaction Index standing,” Aminar said.

In January 2016, Perodua announced its targets for the year, which includes 905 points for its Sales Satisfaction Index, 870 points for its Customer Satisfaction Index.

On other models, for the first half of the year, Perodua sold 28,100 Myvi, 51,100 Axia and 18,150 Alza.
